With alot of help from my old buddy Kendall, my 640 is almost done. Still need to finish up the 703 Loader and a few decals, etc.

Guys, Thanks for you help and comments. John - I appreciate your guidance on the photos. jmixigo - I agree that your method would likely give the optimal results for the scripts, as the decals don't match EXACTLY. Not knocking the decals, they look fine for now, and were done in about 10 minutes, but it seems that there's quite alot of variation in the raised script on the sheet metal. It's been said before, but without this forum, I don't think I'd be driving this tractor around today.
Thanks,
Shane

Shane please don't take the decal comment as a "hit" against your tractor. You've done a great job and have a really nice tractor. The method I described works great IF you have the time an patience for it (I don't have the time right now). Ford did the scripts with a hard rubber roller special made for it's job.

Hello Bill,
Thanks for the compliment, I"m really happy with how it"s turning out. The Ford Script is decal form. Like practically everything used in this project, they were procured from this site.

Good luck with your 640, and keep us posted on the progress. If there"s anything I can help you with, don"t hesitate to ask.

Shane

P.S. Hopefully you"ll do a better job of attaching the pictures. Not real sure what I did wrong. I assume you went to the Tractor Photos section to see them.

You were real close to posting the pictures.

The thing you did wrong was you put a space between < i and a space between g" > when you should have not had a space at all. If it had looked like this the pictures would have posted.

Hope this helps you post pictures in the future.

By the way.... Nice tractor.

Hi Shane,
How did you get the Ford script on the hood and fenders painted or are they decals. Really looks good. I'm sort of stumpted as to how to get mine to look professional. (I have a 640 "under construction" - just beginning).
Bill

I hate decals. What ya do is you paint the scripts with a couple of coats of red, don't worry bout staying in the lines just spray em. Let it dry for about two days. Then paint your tractor. After the paint has had 12 or 14 days to full dry (2 weeks longer for enamel with out hardner) Take some 600 grit wet paper on a rubber sanding block and sand off the grey atop the scripts. Follow with 800 grit paper. Polish out the remaining haze. This is alot of work, but the results are bout perfect.
