Does the PTO shaft turn?

The Canadian is correct. Have you checked the traction disconnect behind the tranny. If this has popped out you'll have no propulsion drive.

I would suspect the lack of transmission movement could be the torque limiting clutch, or an input shaft problem... or even the traction disconnect at the rear of the transmission.
The hydraulic problem is likely a separate issue. If I'm not mistaken, the hydraulics on that tractor are sourced from a different compartment, and the pump is engine driven... so it should be a different issue entirely. That could be something as simple as the pump having lost it's prime, or a lack of oil.... or the unloading valve hanging up.... and so on.

Torque limit clutch? in reply to leon abbott, 05-14-2007 12:44:23
My old 4000D (like a 871)had a busted torque limit clucth plate. Actually it stripped out the rivets on the hub. This is like a small clutch that goes on the flywheel so you would have to split the tractor to fix it. When I was looking for a good used one, as I couldn't get new. I found out there were different splines. So if you have this problem just count splines and measure the diameter. I found one from Draper Tractor in WA. state. Cost $130,I think. bjr

Sounds like you have a broken input shaft.
