Overhauled my lift cover last night on my Jubilee.Just a word of encouragement for any of you that might be hesitant to try it.First off I used the tisco gaskets, got them from the NH dealer in Vernon TX.He didn't have any others in a set.He told me they all get made in the same place anyway. So I get the cam follower pin while I'm there.Well heres the story, got the lift cover off the tractor. Its a lot heavier than I thought!!Oh first watched the rebuild video I bought off e-bay.Its very good.screwed the threaded peice all the way out,the one under the acorn nut on side of transmission.First mistake!Screwed it back into the trans.Part way.Got the top off and into the garrage, looked every thing over, and noticed the cam follower pin worn half through. The relief valve adjustment had weld on the treads so nothing to adjust there.Pulled the control valve out.Pulled the unloading valve out.Didn't realize they had an unloading valve that took a o-ring,after reading I find its a factory update, from the solid metal one they have in the hyd video. Now I'm looking for the glass ball they also mentioned in the video,I have a steel ball kind of glued to the relief valve.Got it separrated from the valve, forgot to clean it,mistake #2.Polished the valves up with emery cloth.Cleaned the under side of the lift cover with degreaser. Now I'm ready to remove the cam follower pin,I keep railroad ties cut into 2.5 lentghs so I put the hyd lift cover on one and had two of them stacked against the wall to be a backdrop to hammer against.I found a good deep well socket/extension and wedged the socket tight against the arm with the cam follower pin.Hammered it out.Had no trouble with it at all.Next I banged the cylinder with piston on said railroad ties, cleaned all this in soap and water. The warm water does work to help make the leather more pliable to get the backup on the piston. One of the things I did do right was clean the maiting surfaces throughly with a wire wheel.I got it all back together.Didn't adjust any of it.Didn't drain the sump,Used only the gaskets in the kit.And it works. It does bleed down wthin 30 minutes.I'm not sure if its the piston O-ring,unloadeing valve O-ring,or adjustment.I worked about 6 hours with a lunch break and trips to part store in there.By myself.I'm mostly satisfied with the work.I would have taken more time but had to mow today,so had little down time. But so far its doing good.I guess to make my point, I made a few mistakes and got it done.Gonna try a image. Billy.
