i have a question for you Hydro gurus. i have a 1982 Ford 1700 with a factory 770 loader. My question is when i pick up a sizable load the hydralics squeal when i try to lift and tilt the bucket, what would cause this? A low hydralic level? Old, clogged hydralic lines? any ideas to eliminate the squeal would be helpful.

thanks

dan

i should have mentioned that the squeal is coming from right around the loader levers? Any opinions on how to resolve this?

The squeal is probably the releif valve. That means you are picking up more than you should.

try to pinpoint where the noise is coming from - that shouild lead you to the ballpark. i know my loader squeals from the relief valve built into the loader conrtol valve occasionally, then i need to tear it apart and clean it.

Squeals can be anything from low fluid causing cavitation and foaming.. a vacume leak causing air introduction.. a relief valve that is chattering.. or a clogged suction strainer that is causing cavitation.

Check your oil sump.. see if it is at the correct level.. see if it looks foamed or air entrained.

Is the operation slow and eratic.. or at a good speed / normal speed it usually is?

Any water in the oil ( emulsion.. looks milky ).. water in the oil can boil under heavy vacume/pressures.. etc..
