Okay I consider myself a farmer, meaning I watch the pennies and pretty much do all repairs myself. I want a plain simple alternator bracket for a Delco SI-10 alternator,I'm converting over from the old generator, just that bracket, I don't need the full kit, it doesn't have to be chromed or aluminum or titanium, just steel. The old bracket is to short and is straight, the one I need should be curved to accomadate the alternators pivot adjustment swing. This is for a tractor and I don't enter it in parades or take it to tractor shows, it gets dirty and works for living, come to think of it, me too. Does anyone know where I can purchase such an item. This site wants to sell me a full kit and that's not what I want. bjr

You sound like you're handy with this stuff.... just make the bracket. IT doesn't have to be fancy. Scrap steel, a welder and a drill will do. I've made a few of them now, but not for that particular tractor. It's quite simple really.

The cheapest and eaisest way I have found to install a delco 10si on that motor is to use the old generator mounting hardware you have. You will need a bolt (I think 5/16) about a inch long that fits the adjusting hole threads in the alternator. You will also need a piece of all thread rod (I think 3/8) 9" long for the piviot bolt; 4 nuts and 4 flat washers to fit the all thread rod. No cutting or welding needed.

First take off the bottom mounting bracket; turn it around and remount. Mount the alternator as in the very crude picture I drew. Put the fan belt on and get the alternator adjusted about right before you tighten the bolt that holds the ajusting bracket to the motor. This will allow the bracket to move up and down a little as the alternator makes it curve to adjust.

Do you have a pile of scrap metal, a welding machine and a drill press? If so you can make one yourself. That's what I'd do.

I agree.

It's what I did on my 4140. Some old strap steel, a hack saw, hand drill and welder produced one in about 10 minutes. Total cost - under a buck.

I purchased a mounting bracket from our local Ford New Holland dealer for an 8N. It was a perfect fit. The same dealer installed an alternator for our neighbor on a 600 series and used a factory manufactured bracket on it. I would think they could also furnish a bracket for your application
