I have a the IT shop manual FO-20 that covers the 4000 4cyl, but it doesn,t have a schematic in it.
Mine was a mess when I got it and I rewired it, so am sure you can too.
One thing to remember is the starter switch works by completeing the ground. That was a little confusing to me at first.
Good luck
Charles

I have a Ford 4000 (3 cyl) gas. It started making a squealing noise so I shut it off. I looked it over and tried to start it, but had no power to anything. Checked battery, it is fine. took generator off and had tested, it was bad. I installed remanufactured generator and hooked everything back up. Still no power to anything. I can"t find any wires shorting out or loose. Could that fuse in the dash keep everything else from getting power? I checked the switch and am getting 12V through the switch in the run position and the start position. I can"t think of anything. Can anyone help?
