Repo manifold fit issue for carb spacing

Some may remember a number of months ago I discovered that the repo manifold I bought for my 55 Ford 960 caused the carb to sit 3/4 inch higher than the original manifold did. I suspect this was so that the repo manifold could fit more than one application, the other application requiring the higher spacing. This issue caused my choke rod to be bent under stress and thus not funciton properly and my air cleaner tube and fuel line would not line up correctly. The governor linkage also was out of line but had enough adjustment that it probably wouldn"t have been an issue. So to solve this problem I design a phenolic spacer and had it machined. I also had to get longer studs and since I couldn"t find a supplier that sold the studs silver zinc plated like original on my tractor, I had to have them plated. I also had to modify the studs so that they would sit at the correct height in the carb and not thread too far. I Tig welded on one thread with a .040 tungsten rod and it came out perfect. I then wire wheeled, metal prepped and coated that end of the thread in a rust inhibiting coating. Since I was doing this for my tractor I decided to make a few extras for others who may need this also and I"ve now got them on ebay as a kit with the spacer, studs, gasket, and fine thread jam nuts. An ebay search for "900 ford carb" would find it. I suspect it is also applicable to other early ford models that use the same manifold. Check your tractor with repo manifold to see if you need it. thanks, Brad

Couldn't you return the repro? The original is still made.

Did you ever get that 960 running? I remember when you used to post updates on your progress.
