I bought a Ford 3910 recently and I checked all fluid levels. The motor oil was a bit over full and looked thin to me.
I want to change the oil and filter tomorrow. I’ll most likely go to the local NAPA parts store as the New Holland dealer is a 50 mile trip. Can anyone let me know what oil to buy? I believe diesels use a different oil from gas burners.

Thanks for the tip. I was thinking over full and thin might point to a problem.third party image

It might also simply indicate that somebidy used 10W30 and overfilled it a bit. Overfilling them is nto at all uncommon. Doesn't hurt to change it, and then keep an eye on it.

Smell that oil. If it smells badly of diesel fuel after you change the oil watch it close because it could have a problem with the fuel system and if it does it can cause the engine to lock up which isn't good. As far as oil I would use rotella 15-30 or 20W-40

Any diesel rated engine oil. 15W40 is the grade...
