I bought a pump off the internet and it didn"t come with the nuts for the manifold hookup. It"s 7/16 something I looked everywhere and all I can find is 7/16-20 It"s alot more fine thread or could it be whitworth (sp) thread. Any help would be good.

You may need a regular (NEF) or what is called (national extra fine)which is a standard 7/16th x 28 threads per inch. You could check this with a thread pitch gage, CENTAUR

Bob, My manual says it uses a 7/16-14-20x1.68 stud, part number 88408-S8. Could be someone switched out the studs somewhere along the line.
Hope this helps.

Some Ford engineer was obviously in love with the 7/16" bolt as it can be found on all Fords- cars, trucks and tractors. It comes in 2 versions- a fine thread and coarse thread and both are used in many places. I forget what the pitch is for fine and coarse but just go to any hardware store and ask for a few of each. BTW- the original Ford 7/16" nuts required an 11/16" wrench but your hardware store version will require a 5/8" wrench.

I bought a 7/16-24 and it's not fine enough thats all they had. I checked O'reillys.Tractor supply.auto zone and 2 local auto parts placed. I guess I'll have to re tape it.

I wouldn't re-tap it.. I'dd pull the studs and find somthing that matched.

Squander 4$ on a thread gauge and see what you really have vs guessing..
