Just purchased my first tractor. It came with the hydraulic set up, two buckets, plow, tire chains and weights. Runs fine, little rust, but need to replace rear wheels.
I was told that it was a 1954, but can't find any info online.
How can I tell what year it is?
Where can I go for resto products?

Thanks fro the help.

O.K., went and looked the numbers....
851 on top
below looks like 5470..(1)or(9)
hard to tell
are these number stamped into the metal?
if so maybe a sofy metal brush could be used to clean the area better, as it"s hard to read with the paint chipped off.
BTW... the color is grey not white.

Yep hand stamped so they are easy to scrap off if not careful. What I do is take a rag and spray it with carb cleaner then rub the area real good and most of the time you can read them better. At least you now know it is in fact an 851 since the top number tells you the model number

Here's a photo showing the model number and serial number location old is talking about:

Here is a photo of a restored 801 series Ford tractor. Does yours look something like this?

If not, then maybe your Ford is something other than an 851. The model number should tell you. You could also click on "tractor photos" (links to the left) and surf Ford tractor photos until you find one that resembles what you have.

Well it can't be a 1954 since only one model was made that year and it was an NAA. Now to be sure what you do have and not some thing some one painted to look like an 851 you need to take the serail number and model number from it. To find that look for a flat spot behind the starter/under the battery. It will have both the model number and the serail number. Then look on the left under serail numbers then ford etc to find out what year it is. If it is an 851 it will have a 5 speed tranny and they where made from 1958-1962.
