I just put a new Gen, VR and Batt in my 4000 Diesel and the Voltage light stays on and the battery voltage is only at 12.63 steady. Any help. I did polorize the system.

Try this site;>Link
It>Link has the most comprehensive instructions for diagnosing Lucas systems I have found. Helped me fix the totally dead system on my 4500.

Which 4000 Diesel do you have- the early 4 cylinder or the later 3 cylinder? The early model uses a Ford system and the later model uses a Lucas system.

Welcome to the world of LUCAS electrical systems.
I'd guess that the contacts are stuck in the reg... but I'm not really all that learned on those systems. To be quite honest, when one of them doesn't charge on anything I own I head to NAPA and pick up a 10si alternator and SOLVE the problem.

There's a couple other guys here that can walk you through the nuances of those bloody regulators, but I'm not one of them.... Kinda sucks that you just changed all that stuff, huh? Been down that road yhears and years ago. Dealer used to fix stuff then. Put all new parts on and it would work for a while.... and then back to it's dark nature.
Alternators are available, I believe from this site with the tach drive already attached. Problem solved. Good luck.

Rod
