I cannot get the steering wheel off my 1972 ford 3000. I've soaked it in liquid wrench for 2 days, put a three jaw puller on it and have come close to tearing it up. I need it off to rebuild the power steering. Help!!!!

Hugh, I found this way to remove steering wheels in this form. You may find it by searching the archives.
1-Remove the steering wheel nut.
2-Screw it back on several turns.(the reason will be obvious when it comes loose).
3-Grab hold of the wheel on either side and pull up as hard as possible,(I used my knees), while pulling up wriggle it back and forth as quickly as possible.
My steering wheel nut was half rusted away it had been on so long and this worked for me.
Good luck--Ed

Ed & Festus, I got the wheel off finally by making a steel "washer" to go around the shaft at the bottom of the wheel. The jaws of the puller road on the steel rather than the plastic wheel. That allowed me to really crank on the puller without damaging the wheel anymore than I already had. Thanks guys.

I had the same problem with mine. Left the puller on it for a couple of days and every now and then tapped it with a hammer. And occasionaly sprayed some liquid wrench on it. After a couple days I heard this loud clang in the basement and when I checked it out, it had finally popped loose. Don't know what else to tell you, Good Luck, Festus
