Need a little advise on what to do/what not to do when pressure washing my 850 Ford Engine. Beside covering up the disto/sparkplug wire/coils..would you also cover up the carb and air cleaner element? What advise can you give me? Thanks everyone. Paul

I don't know how common it is, but a poster a few months back was having continual starter problems and finding water in it. After taking back to the shop that rebuilt it, he went home and figured out he was the culprit with his high pressure washer.

I stick a plastic baggie over the crank breather and then rubber band it.. i also put a piece of wide masking tape over the valve cover breather..

TIP: WD-40 makes a great water disperser when your distrib gets wet ( in addition to it's poor lubrication qualities {wink} )

I never cover any thing on my machines when I do that. Ya I'm careful not to spray the distributor or the top of the air cleaner but other then that I spray the heck out of them and have never had any problems. I do start them right after I'm done just to make sure they will still run and to dry them off
