RIGHT side??/ or is it your other right. Shermans most of the time are on the left side just forward of the clutch pedal. Any how theres a allen head bolt that holds it on and its probably fallen out at some point in time

There is an allen head screw that holds the handle in place. I think it's 1/4 -20 x 1.5 inch, but that's sort of a fuzzy number!

The lever and shaft that goes into transmission pull out completely. Is this allen head inside the case on internal end of said shaft.
There is no longer any range shifting
thanks ed

Frog.. the allen head bolt is on the outside and holds the lever tot he shaft. the shaft actuates a shifter fork.

Go to the link I posted.. the 1st pic is a step up only, but does show how the shaft actuates the shift fork.. about 1/4 the way down are some pics of the doglegged combo shifter and you can see it's shift fork and how the lever attaches.

If you have the lever slid in and it is engaging the sherman and not shifting.. I predict you will be splitting her...

Well I checked out the sherman transmission site .Thanks soundguy .Looks like a split .Not today,The lever is doing nothing and I hope I can use this tractor as is and she stays in gear.
This is a neat backhoe loader combo I just dumped a bunch of money and time into it to get here running nice.I will sell for parts or fix if anyones intersted brand new carb, tuneup, also heavy duty loader and backhoe work good ,Shes no show peice ,but worth a look if you like fords .I will email pics or call 607 655 1024

Would be neat if that was the shuttle tranny... whould be great for loader work.

Chances are she will stay in 'straight thru' geairng where it was befor ethe shifter died.

I was wrong, the bolt is 3/8 - 16 x 1" long allen head with a lock washer.

The handle has a square drive on the end and that mates up to the shift rail shaft. The handle is fastened with the above allen head fastener. I think it's a cap headed one, the book is pretty fuzzy on that.

If you have more q's, can you take a picture and post it along with the q? That will help us figure out what is going on and how to help you fix it.

I beleive the shaft is diconnected inside the case .I was hoping to remove the shifter plate ontop of trans to be able to see forward inside the transmissinon to locate what was disconnected .It has fallen apart somewhere inside .
