Got a aftermarket gas shutoff valve today. Other than the o-ring that came with it, do you recommend also using like Permatex or something similiar to put on the screws and the bottom of the valve...the part that meets the tanks? Thanks for your time....

No. The bolts thread into blind holes.

Put a small amount of grease in the O-Ring groove in the valve to hold the O-Ring in place when you install the valve as you will need to tilt the valve during installation.

Use only the correct O-Ring and DO NOT overtighten the bolts.

You can change the valve with the hood and fuel tank in place, and once you have done it the first time it will be a piece of cake when you do it again in a couple of years.

Thanks Dean for the tips...appreciate them for sure. It looks like a tight job but I think I can knock it out. When you say blind holes on the tank, do you mean threads that do not go up into the tank? Great idea with the grease on the oring...

Yes.. that's what blind hole means.. 'no exit' on the other side.. etc..

good luck on the valve... they are known leakers after about 2ys..
