Hi folks I am still confused as how my remote cylinder hydralics work. I an wondering if a hydralic motor could be ran with the set up that I have.
Also the remote hydralic cylinder operation controll valve does not look like the one in the owners manual. I would like to post a picture on here but it seems as on one does. Is there a reason that there arn't any pictures on the BB?

Would it work if I placed the picture on photobucket and posted a link here on this BB?

I am not sure how the two lines that go to the remote cylinder work, the words lift and drop, lift I understand but why an extra line named drop if it is for a single acting cylinder? Is that the pressure line to force the cylinder in the opsite direction?

The is just to the right of the picture and has 3 positions
With the lever in the center position the 3pt will raise and drop with the use of the quadrant lever works the 3pt normaly. Move the lever either in or out and you can hear the tractor RPMs drop.

The valve does not look like any thing in the operators manual nor can I find any picture of this valve in the NH parts site. I have ordered a parts CD that I hope will show this valve.

I left the farm in 1961 and tractors were just comming out of the stone age. I have not had any experice with the newer tractors untill I purchased this 74 ford 4000.

Any help from you fellows will be greatly appreciated.

Pretty standard looking hyd cover valve to me.

lift and drop.. lets you run a DA cyl.. or if you have an SA cyl, you adjust that set screw so that oil can reliev to sump from the lift line.. etc.

With noting hooke dup, if you actuate the valve, the engine is working against the pump, that is working to lift the relief valve for the oil to go somewhere.

Here's a pic of my dual DA valve on my 850. I'm using one side as SA, as I described.. the SA side runs my loader lift cyl, while the da side runs my dump/curl cyl.. etc.

Thanks Guys for the replys. I am going to barrow a cylinder and get a couple of connectors and see how this thing works.
I guess what I don't understand is , does the lever on the valve do the operating or does it just direct the flow and the quadrant lever makes the cylinder operate

How would you connect a hydralic motor. One of the things I am considering connecting is a hydralic driven winch.

You can upload your (100k limit ) pic to one of the galeries ont he left side of the page, copy the url, and then paste the url into the optional image url box beneath your message.

If you have a DA remote valve on your hyd cover and a set of QD's.. then yes.. you could power a hyd motor.. just keep in mind that the gpm and flow rate will be limited to the tractors rpm and pump capacity.

According to my manual relief valve setting is 2500 psi, and the 4000 with an external piston pump is ?4-5gpm at 2000 rpm, and if it has an internal gear type pump, then it is 5.3gpm at 2200rpm.. etc. ( i don't own a 4000 or a complete set of the 3 cyl manual.. only a couple of them.. etc.. so this came off a condensed listing.. etc.. check your manuals to verify this)

NO no no.
Why anyone would reduce a good 100K photo to the typical Ytmag hosted, eye squinting, undecipherable, 16K image when he could open a FREE Photobucket account and host it there is beyond me.
The skill required to hotlink from YT or PB is the same.
And if one happens to still be on dial up the UPload speed is the same. I'm not knocking YT I'll have you know.
Did I mention Photobucket is FREE?

some of us can't use photobucket due to our ISP. I've never had any luck using them. Though on bigger pics I usually host them on another tractor board with heftier limites then link them over.. etc. I've talked to many others in the same boat that have problems with photobucket, presumably due to their ISP.. etc. ( I also run into problems with some boards that do periodic mailings or post notification... my at&t account tend to spamlist, and then black list certain senders.. like TBN and yahoo for example, as well as the ISP of the editor of a magazine I sometimes write for. It's a little unerving at times...
