ford 8n starting problem

I bought a 49 8N , completely rewired. Started every time and ran fine. One day it would not start with the starter button. Replaced the solenoid and checked all of the grounds, still nothing.The solenoid I put on it came from parts house, guy said it should work. I can jump across the solenoid and it will start.But still cannot find the problem, any hints on what to look for.

Thanks guys,

I just called my parts dealer and he can have one for me tomarrow.

I knew it had to be something simple everything else works fine once it starts.

You have the wrong soliniod. The one on the ford tractors work by grounding not with a hot wire so the common car type will not work
