As far as if they're a good tractor... my 7000 has 4100+ hours on a complete overhaul, well over 10000 total hours, the 7600 is at about 6800 hours. No intentions of selling or trading either of them. There's a 7000 like mine on ebay ending in a couple hours; cheap at a little over $4000. A 7000 row crop also on ebay, also cheap at under $4000. Both too far away for me to consider.(and I need to sell a tractor or two right now anyway!)

The rated efficiency of those engines was somewhere around 15.5~15.8 HP/hr-gal at rated speed. Not the best for their time but certainly ahead of many.
In english, they burn about 2 gal/hr on a little baler and up to 4 gal/hr on heavy work. If you can keep the throttle back to 1900 rpm they're not bad on fuel, but you probably won't get them to burn less than 2 gal/hr on anything. Keep as much weight off as possible. If you don't need the loader, drop it off.
I find tht my 7710 often burns a little over 3 an hour on tillage work and most other things for that matter... but on the forage harvester she burns the full 4.

I have a 7000 and 7600, both with the 256 turbo and dual power 8-speeds. Like others say, depends on the load. Light stuff like mowing or small square baling, mine run just barely over 2 gal/hour. Pulling a 5x16" plow or 16' disk in our heavy clay, they're around 4 gallons. Since yours is a straight 8-speed, you may see a (very) small increase in efficiencey.

My 7610s is 304ci

my older 5000 is 256.. but no turbo.

Depending on your load ont he engine.. I'd 'guess' that sucker will consume about 2g - 2.5g per hour... again.. depending on how many of it's wild ponies you are harnessing..

Probably a very economical tractor. 256 cu in with a turbo. Many other 84 PTO Hp tractors have around 360 cubes to feed.

fuel consumption will be based on load.

My ford 5000 pulling a 10' mower takes about 3 hours to mow 10ac.. uses about 5g of diesel.

My NH 7610s pulling a 15' mower takes about 2 hours to mow 10ac.. uses about 5g of diesel.

Post what your application will be...
