On my mighty 860 the grill frame is a mass of rust. I have been looking for a replacement. Today, by accident, I discovered they are referred to as a nose cone. Any one any idea where I can buy this? Thanks in advance. Have a great evening and a better tomorrow.

Thanks everyone for the replys. After getting the loader frame out of the way I can see better what I need. What I have may possiby be reused with prayer, fiberglass, welding and luck. While I am at the dumb questions, anyone know where I can get and exploded view? The various nuts, bolts, fittings and latches are missing. The thing is literally held together with zip ties! Once again, thanks in advance.

Hi Bob; Here is a diagram of the sheetmetal assemblies for the 700 and 900 tractor. The catalog does not show the 600 or 800 sheetmetal. You might be able to go to the NH parts site and find a diagram there.

The difference will be found in the lower side panels. Yours will extend down and bolt to the axle support assembly. The grill will bolt on the lower end to the lower side panel by a stud that is in the side panel. At the top there will be a tab on each side panel that you bolt the top of the grill to. The stock fastner was a wing bolt. If you need the nut and bolt sizes let me know and I can get them for you. I recommend you spend about $20 and buy a Master Parts Catalog. It has the diagrams and nut and bolt sizes as well. You can get it here or e-bay. Faxxon publishes as well. Hope this helps.

Denny and Glenn thank you. Upon closer examination I need the left and right side panels. The pieces with the verticle lettering. Glenn I got a kick out of the photo you posted and ask if mine looked like that. I am sure 52 years ago it did but now I think most salvage yards would be ashamed to have it. I conned myself into buying this hulk because I wanted and needed a tractor and loader so badly. Alas I will comtinue throwing $$$ at it until it works properly. Have a great day!

Hi Bob, The side panels can be bought aftermarket or from a salvage yard. Wenger's may have them used and will save a little money. They are spot welded to the upper hood panels. I replaced mine and re welded them using a mig. If your hod assembly is straight it is an easy job. I had some problems with mine and had to reshape it to get them to fit right.

Denny is right the new hood assemblies will be out in the fall of 08 from Dennis Carpenter.

I know what you mean about spending money on it. I started out just to fix a rear main seal leak, got hooked at looking at all the restored tractors and have now almost completely restore it. Oh well, Its kept me out of trouble.lol
Have fun with your tractor.

I believe you can get those pieces right here on this site.

Sometime next year, there should also be entire reproduction "front ends" available, which will make those of use with dented/rusty sheetmetal happier, but much poorer. ;o)

Does your tractor look like this? If so, tell us what piece you are talking about.

Hello Bob, The grill is generally a one piece item. The only "frame" around it would be the lower side panels of the left and right hood side panels and the nose piece at the top where the hood emblem is attached.(technically caled the "hood top front panel assembly")Can you post a photo of what you are talking about. I have a feeling you are talking about the lower side panels of the hood. This site sells then as do various others.

All the 860s I've ever seen, have essentially the same front sheetmetal as the NAA. The front would consist of the piece I linked to that the model medallion bolts to, two "doglegs" (sides) and the grille itself.

861s have a completely different grille than the NAA series has. It sticks out beyond the frontend and is divided into "blocks" instead of just vertical ribs like the NAA grilles that are recessed.

You can go to pictures here and search for particular models to find your grille.
