Need tips on replacing Ford 3000 water pump

I will start on replacing the water pump on my Ford 3000 this weekend and would like any helpful tips. I have all the manuals but would appreciate any help. Thanks.

I generally just remove the hood cross brace and then unbolt the fan and drop it down, then remove the pump. You can remove the cowl/rad etc... but that's often not easy. IT does make for much quicker easier access to the pump, but it can be a lot of work to remove the rad. I'd check th ebolts in the rad first. If they're willing to thread off OK, then go for it. If not, go in from the top.....

I've found its much easier to just remove the front cowling and radiator and then everything is right in front of you. Just make sure you clean all the old gasket material off. I usually polish it up with some emory cloth or fine grit sand paper.

Just make sure you have the correct replacement pump before you start. I show 4 different part numbers possible depending on type of pulley and size of mounting holes.
