Thanks for all the information that the board has provided in the past. On my 1955 860, what color grey is correct? Also on the hood, side panels and grill areas all of the various fasteners are missing. Are these available on the aftermarket? If so, where? Once again, thanks.

Hello Bob; Regarding the color of paint, you can buy the Ford paint from CNH for about $50.00 per gallon. At least that was what it was the last time I was in. Their paint is marked for the years the particular color was used. TISCO also sells paint said to be the original color. If you go with the more expensive paint you can get the color codes. I bought a spray can of the gray and red from CNH, painted some metal with it and had the local auto paint store mix the paint to match. I used Omni AU. Looks great. You'll find that the gray is more of a beige than the gray used on the N tractors.

Regarding the bolts, you can save some money by going to your locate fastner store. Here are the bolt sizes from the manual. Hood assembly-(Nose piece to side panels)8- 1/4 X 28 X .62 bolts plus nuts and lock washers; rear lower panel to side panel 6-5/16 X 24 X .88 phillips round head screws (Dennis Carpenter); lower panel to steering gear housing 2-7/16 X 14 X 1 bolts plus flat washers, lock washers and nuts; upper rear panel (dash) to side panels, 2- 5/16 X 24 X .62 bolts, plus lock washers, flat washers and nuts; upper rear panel to side panel( these are for the tab on the upper rear panel 2-10 X 32 X .38 pan head screws plus lock washers and nuts; lower side panel to axle support assembly 2- 7/16 X 20 X 1 bolts plus lock washers, flat washers and nuts. On the lower side panels there should be one stud on each side that attaches the lower portion of the grill to the side panels. You'll need nuts and washers. I don't recall the sizze, but I can get it for you. The upper portion of the grill is attached by two wing bolts. You can probably get those at Dennis Carpenter. If you need the screw and bolt sizes for the hood latches, and latch springs let me know. Hope I didn't miss anything. Let me know if I did. Hope this helps you out.

Thanks again everyone. Being a new owner it is bewildering facing the problems of restoration. Or should I say renovation. I do not think that when I am through I should call my work restoration. The body work is in poor shape with lots of rust. I am going to have fastener tabs welded back in place. The whole hood assembly wobbles about two inches left to right. I am completing my first fender. Actually looks better than first expected. approximately 30 percent of the fender was rusted through. My past experience is restoring boats. Consequently, I have used fiberglass with epoxy resin. Also angel hair, POR-15, premium bondo and glazing putty. Fender must weigh 50 pounds but looks very well. Thanks again.

the sheet metal on 800 series is MEDIUM GRAY. ford used 3 gray colors Dark gray for 9N & 2N, medium Gray for 100 series. & light gray for 1000 series Most Mew Holland dealers have the right color. The red on the 600 & 800 is a different color than red on 601 & 801
