My uncle contacted me recently about wanting to give me the two biggest tractors his father had. They haven't been run in years since he sold out back about 15 years ago. I know nothing about Ford tractors since all we run is IH stuff. Any help or information about these tractors and or problems I need to look out for would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

With use you can usually look for a little hydraulic pump trouble and the dual power and pto clutches sometimes will wear out sometime before the 5000 hr mark on the 9600.That is if the tractor is doing a lot of heavy work. Also the injector pump crankcase oil needs to be changed at every engine oil change interval. It becomes diluted with fuel and can cause problems if the oil is not changed. This is in the operators manual. The 6600 has no unusal problems that i know of.

9600 was 135 hp.Good tractors if treated right and serviced regularly. They were good for their rated hp and did not last long if they were overloaded.6600 was around 75 horses and used a naturally aspirated 4 cylinder engine.Great row crop styled tractor.Exellent haying tractor on baler ,rake or mower.Could handle a loader well also.2 great tractors if taken care of.

That's alot of hp.

Bout All I can say is that the X600 series started near the end of 1975.. etc.

I've ran an 8000 for a bit.. but not its big brother. The 6600 is in a good line of tractors.. the 5000/5600/5610 /II/ and the 7/6000/ 7/6600/ 7/6610/II were all very robust tractors, and had some common design themes.. etc.
