Is R&O a suitable oil to use in my 640, that's all people around here in rural Texas seem to carry.

Nearest WalMart or TSC are both 50+ miles from me.

I'm a part-timer in Utopia, Texas, about 90 miles west of San Antonio near Garner State Park. Closest TSC is in Uvalde, about 52 miles, and the one inCastroville, and that's about 70 miles from me. Closest Wal Mart is almost 50 miles in Uvalde. That's where I ended up to get the right stuff. My trip was two fold, I had to pick up a Timken cup and cone for my input shaft retainer, plus the dogs needed a road trip.

Michaels Dad, I"m in Bandera, not far from Utopia, at least not by my standards. I"ve got an 820 and would like to make contact with people who own these machines to pick their brains on various items as needed. The more I learn the more I can help myself and others. My 820 is finally running and usable for real work. I"ve only got 12 acres but there is a lot for it to do. I work out of the area so have little time to pursue this work. The more reliable the machine the better. Thought I"d drop you a line to see if you were any more "plugged in" to the local expertise. Thanks, B. B. Stanfield

Typically the R&O oil i see is just straight hyd oil ( jack oil).. it would only be suitable in your hyd sump.

I prefer to use UTF oil.. walmart and TSC has it.. walmart will be cheaper.

( napa has it as well )

Does WalMart carry what I need? If so, what might the name be? What about TSC.

Looks like a road trip is coming.

It is called UTF (Universal Tractor Fluid) or something similar. Just look on the label and see if it meets Ford/New Holland spec 134D. It will be there on the label along with all of the JD/Case/Kubota/MF, etc. specs that it meets.
