Ford 800 Crankshaft replacement - How?

I need to replace the crankshaft on my Ford 800. I have a reground crank and bearings waiting in my living room (much to the dismay of my better half). How do I go about this kind of job? I have contacted several people in the area, but they are either disinterested in working on it, or they don"t think it is worth the effort. This is really a nice little tractor that gets the job done and would hate to get rid of it.

Any ideas/help would be greatly appreciated.

Best done with the motor torn down and everything inspected. You did not mention how you arrived at having a crank turned. Heres an 8n I did a while back, may give you some ideas. The Gantry crane is home grown, looked all over the internet and found lots of dimensions for them.

Have to agree with Rod. I wouldn't put a new crank and bearings in any engine that hasn't been completely torn down and cleaned out. If a bearing failure caused the crank to go bad, The block needs a thorough cleaning, including the oil galleries. You can bet that there are metal particles and crud trapped in there that will wipe out your new crank and bearings. Tear it down and do it right, and you will only have to do it once.

Split the tractor. Suspend the engine from a crane or a roof truss... whatever you have. Pull the pan and drop the crank. That's probably the easiest way to do it if you're just changing the crank. If it was me I'd take a hard look at the rest of the engine. IT might pay you to put a kit in it and be done of it.... If that was the case I'd remove the block completly from the tractor, taking the engine apart piece by piece.
