Hi, New to the forum here, and thanks for the help. I have a recently acquired '57 850 Ford, and in getting it ready for winter snowblowing I discover the three point won't lift my snowblower.

I have a dipstick on the left side, by the PTO lever, that indicates full. What reservor is this dipstick checking?

When I pull the three caps off, all reservors are wet with fluid, but I don't see the fluid in any of them, so I'm assuming all are low. How full should each resorvoir be?

Does anyone know the capacity of each, if I drain them all and start with fresh 134D in all? Are there any screens anyplace that need cleaning?

Alan; the Capacities are as follows; Engine - 5 quarts (when replacing filter) Transmission - 8.5 quarts Hydraulic system - 8 quarts Rear Axle Differential - 11 quarts

The only screen you will find is when you pull the drain plug on the engine. There is a cylindrical screen that sits in the plug.

Thanks again for all the help. I found the "burp" plug, and my hydralics now work fine.

Fluids all changed, I'm set for winter!

An owners manual would help with these wuestions.

The dipstick onthe left side is the hyd dipstick for your 3pt hitch.

The check level plug fo rhte diffy is on the left axle trumpet, rear of it.

Trans check plug is on right side by your foot...

Thanks, soundguy! I just found this site, and through it also finding manuals. As I mentioned, my dipstick indicates full, but the three point won't lift, even with nothing hooked up. It worked this summer when I acquired the tractor.

Any ideas as to why or what to look for?

Anyone have a recomendation to the best manual for this series tractor?

The factory shop manual and parts book I thought were the best for these tractors are offered by Faxon Auto Literature as a good quality reprint, also keep a look out on e-bay, originals turn up there as well, years ago I found an original for mine, and noticed the above offered the same in a re-print.

factor service manual is better than the fo-20.

I'd pull the front/top plug on the end of the hydro pump and see if it needs burped.
