Wire resistance?

Just bought a new set of wires for my 3000 at the local New Holland dealer. For curiosity I ran a resistance check on 'em and found they're all registering about 3300 ohms resistance. I would've thought they were solid wire and should show about zero resistance. Can anyone help me understand this? Thanks.

Incedentally... you can't get metal core wires from CNH or so I've been told.. so.. if you order wires for your 8n.. they will come in carbon composite as well..

These so called wires measure about 10000 ohms per foot. They do fail often.I find many measure open.I check them first when an engine skips. The plug on the bad wire will foul.

Solid-core wires are only needed for 6-Volt or "mag" tractors. Your's will be FINE with the OEM-replacment wires.

Factory wires will be carbon resistor type. The intention is to cut down on interference with radios. You can buy aftermarket copper wires, but don't expect any big difference in performance.

You will see a big difference when the carbon wire burns the carbon out of both ends and the cylinder stops firing.
