Back awhile ago I asked if you could remove the top of of a sherman through the hole under steering tower,for shifting troubles Nobody had done it before that answered.Answer is yes
With a little gringing around the hole the top of the sherman lifts right out ,I did inspection and repaired shifting problems in top of sherman.Very easy task couple hour down time
hope this helps somebody in simular situation .Have pics but dont know how to post can email if interested.ed windsor ny

Got your e-mail. We weren't looking forward to splitting the 600. We were planning on tackeling the job over Thanksgiving shut down. Thanks for posting back. Any way of e-mailing pics?

I can't post most of the words that have been accidentally invented while working on tractors/trucks/cars! Especially the ones invented when I find a "stuck" bolt that was welded in by a prior owner.

Maybe I'll start using "gringing"?
