If you have a 4 cylinder 4000 you can identify and decode it by using John Smith's or John in LA's website. If you have a 3 cylinder 4000 you can identify and decode it using the springfieldbiz website. Regardless of which style 4000 you have the ID numbers will be found stamped in the transmission housing just aft of the starter. On a 4 cyl 4000 the starter is found on the left side of the engine (as viewed from the operator's seat) and on the 3 cyl 4000 the starter is on the right side of the engine.
When you locate your numbers post them on this forum and we'll do the decoding for you.

I found two sets of numbers and the Ford 4000 is really a Ford 3000. The first set of numbers is C6NN-4024 U, this set was under the seat. The second set of numbers was on the transmission and they are C5NN-706 B4.

Thanks for the help, I plan on looking at the tractor tomorrow. As soon as I get the numbers I will post them.
