I have a 2000 that I bought about 35 years ago for $2000. It has been running ever since. It has a four cylinder overhead valve diesel in it. It takes the same starter as a 1960 model Ford 6 cyl pick-up truck. This starter also fit numerous other Ford cars and trucks around that time.

I would guess that you have 2000 3cyl diesel, but I bet it is a Super Dexta Ford 2000 made by Ford in England and imported to the states 63-64.Search for Dexta on the tractor photos and see if this is it.

Have Bob send you some pictures of this thing. Unless it's a late 50s/ early 60s British Fordson it's not from the Ford family. Kinda looks like what I think a Long is, but I don't know. What colors were on a British Leyland?

I believe, and I stress believe because I don't have a 2000 but on my 4000 there is a plate inside the hood half that opens. There are several sets of numbers on it. Post those numbers and someone here will tell you exactly what you have. Also, if there isn't a plate on the inside of the hood, I believe on that tractor there are 3 sets of numbers punched into the tranny housing immediately behind the starter. These aren't the cast numbers, but punched into the housing on the flat horizontal surface. Post those and we can decode. By the way, $250 is a screaming deal on that tractor.

I have looked at everything but I do not have the numbers on my tractor. The air filter system looks different and some told me that they think the tractor is from the 50s. LOSO LOST LOST

somebody else will have to help you on that one. I'm not that familiar with the later ones and where numbers are, etc.

there were two different 2000 diesels. The first was built from late '62 to mid '65. It had a four cylinder engine. The second was built from '65 through '74. It had 3 cylinder engine. If you can tell me which one you have, I or someone will be able to tell you how to trace serial numbers down. If all else fails send me a picture. My email is open on modern view.
