Is it possible to install a ford 2715E engine to a Ford 5000 gearbox? Is bolt patterns the same? Ist this a plug and play deal? Dont bother about how it would fit in a Ford 5000 chassi, as it isnt going into one.

Just need to know if the drive traing from a Ford 5000 is plug and play with a ford 2715E engine?

Sounds like its not so plug and play as I thought. The problem is that I have a converter transmission that is connected ford 5000 engine. And my starter is on the left side if you see the engine from the front.

This means that a Ford 5000 engine and a 2715E engine doesnt use the same bolt patterns and such.

Do you know if the "adapter" plate on the 8100, could be used on a ford 5000 gearbox, to connect the 2715E engine. Wouldnt such an adapter make the shaft of the gear box to short?

a ford 8100 tractor was exactly that... a 2710 and then a 2715 engine bolted up to a 7000 trans... I got to look at one a month ago... the 2715 had a weird flywheel housing that bolted to the ford tranny...

so yes it can be and was actually done...

County and a few others bolted a lot of Dorset's to the 5000 assend. I don't know exactly how they did it, but they did. I'm sure there was some conversion work done... The starter location is the forst thing that comes to mind. The 5000 has the bump on the right side to make room for the nose cone. The Dorset's wanted the starter on the left and upside down.
Why not find a county super 6 that's been scrapped and get the transmission? That should ease the project.... or not, since you'd have to find the Super 6.

If you mean a 5000 Super Major, I believe it will fit... If you're talking about a '65-up 5000, I don't think they have the same bolt pattern for the bellhousing.
