Thanks to all that have replied to my earlier question about a Ford 600. I have more information and wanted to start the post over since the other one is now way down on the list.

This tractor is a Ford 640, 4 speed, power dual cylinder bucket with has 2 buckets, 1 large and 1 smaller.

Again, he wants $3000. From earlier discussions, I am thinking it should be closer to $2500.

Again I want to use this for around the house (9 hilly, wooded acres) to clear brush, move firewood/logs, and to clear a 700' driveway that slopes up hill to the house (not too drastic of a slope).

Of course, if I can find something else that will suffice, I will consider it. But winter is getting closer and I don't want to get stuck in the snow.

Thanks again

I'm with John in la... if the tractor is in good conditin.. I'd offer the 2500.. but be prepaired to pay 2750, or 3000 if he wants it.

A 640 with a full hyd loader will be worth that.

heck.. down here.. you can't touch a good hundred series by itself for LESS than 3000.. no loader involved.. etc.

From reading your last post and this one I can not see any real problems with this tractor. The only draw back is it does not have live PTO; but many tractors of this age did not.

I would offer him $2500 but in my mind I would be ready to pay the $3000 if he would not budge off the price.

Have you seen it yet? Is it clean, leak free, everything works? Runs well, clean oil, no smoke? If yes, I don't think you are going to do much better. That's a good tractor. I agree, offer $2200 or $2500 and see where it goes. He may be motivated to be rid of it before winter just as much as you want it before winter.
