Hey all,

Wanted to start a different thread for this.

I was wondering, is there such a thing as too much weight. I have CaCl in my tires now but still lack traction at times. I assume I could keep the CaCl and mount the pie weights as well. I believe the light set of pie weights is just over 900#s total, how much does the CaCl weigh? 500# a side or so? (assuming nearly full)
While the added traction will be nice, I am confident the added weight will also help stabilize my NF row crop on the hills and in the timber. Becasue of the weights placement on the wheels, it will help move the center of gravity down and the weight being out from the tracotr should be a benefit as well. Won't ever be an 801, but should improve. Opinions??
TIA
Chris

Well, there is a point where enough is enough, but you shouldn't be there with filled tires and pie weights.

I know that the 1801 HD industrials (same basic tractor as an 801) had a 3000 pound back hoe, 1100 pounds of filled tires and the heavy 1600 pound pie weights. That's almost 6000 pounds. As long as your tires are up to the load, you're good to go.

(Unless you are in bottomless gumbo!)
