Ford 3500 questions

In my search for a tractor, I found an individual selling a 1968 Ford 3500. This tractor has a loader and a backhoe. The backhoe has been on the tractor probably since new, or at least the last 10 years, but I suspect longer. The PTO works, but the 3point arms don"t move when I move the lever up or down. I"m interested in the backhoe, but I would also like to use the 3point. I"m assuming the 3point has never been used. Any ideas? Can it just be stuck? Simple or possibly a complicated fix? Also when I looked at it today, the clutch was not engaging, I guess this is a new problem.

Thanks in advance
Bob

Thanks Paul,

I went and looked at it yesterday. The clutch now is sticking. He came down to $3500, so I told him I will take it if he can free up the clutch. Hopefully he'll be calling me in a day or two.

Bob

Oh, I did want to add that the asking price is $5k, but he came down to $4k due to the problems with the tractor. Another thing is there are no headlights, seats are torn, fenders rusted. Motor sounds good and starts right up.

Thanks again

Hey asylum,

I bought a '72 3500 last year with FEL, 5' hog and 5' rake for $4000 that has working 3pt.
I recently tried to change the filters/screen in the 3pt. Filter got changed but could only clean the intake screen at the bottom, now after putting it back together, it only uses 1/4th of the quadrant handle to go from ground to full lift, so I guess I need to replace the fluid again to get full quadrant use like before.

You can work on it, but you better get the manual first or you pay someone else to fix it.

Thanks for the advice. If I do get it, I certainly will get a manual.

Are parts easy to get for this tractor? The motor is a 3 cylinder gas.

Thanks
Bob

Could be, of course everyplace I gotten parts, they were expensive, especially dealers.
Although I do live near a few tractor scrap yards
here in middle tennessee, you can let me know what you need and I'll call James and see if he has it.

Paul

Paul,

Where in TN are you? I am driving back to West Texas next week to pick up some more of my furniture. I pass through Nashville and Memphis. Trying to find a load to take down for someone to help pay for the diesel.
