I put this over on the Implement Alley discussion board as well.

My neighbor bought (what’s left of) an old snow blower. He told me that he thinks it’s an “Erskine” (?). Has anyone ever heard of that name? He said he thought Erskine was somehow affiliated with Dearborn and/or Ford. Is this true? I tried to search Erskine on the web but I didn’t find anything. Does anyone have any information on Erskine? If Erskine isn’t around anymore, then what happened to the company or who was it bought by? Thanks guys. Jason

The Melroe Co., Fargo, N.D., manufacturer of the Bobcat line of compact excavators, has acquired Erskine Manufacturing, a Minnesota-based supplier of snowblower attachment products for the utility and farm markets.

Erskine will continue to manufacture exclusive Bobcat-branded attachments for Melroe, as well as attachments for other brands of skid-steer loaders. Tim Radniecki and Mike Gustafson will stay on as general manager and sales manager, respectively."

Jason, I am from northern Minnesota and grew up 16 miles from Erskine MN in Polk County. The Erskine manufacturing company went out of business several years ago and I am not aware of any transfer of inventory or support from another company. The Company manufactured snow blowers (I have one and use it on my 8N), bale elevators and other small farm accessories. Around here the Erskine snow blowers are still traded every once in a while. For those of us that have small tractors and refuse to strain our necks looking backwards they do the job. They were not affiliated with Dearborn/Ford but in this case, happened to be located next to what was a large Ford dealer, Bradley Motors. Hopes this helps. Merry Christmas. Nilram MN
