Does the 1700 have a rear differential lock? If so, does anyone have any pictures of what it looks like inside and ideas on why it would not work?
Thanks

Send me your email and I will forward what I have. This was a job for a friend and he decided not to work on it in the winter. No garage.

Several reasons why it won't work. The diff lock gears may be worn, the fork may be bent, etc. You have to be stopped or moving slowly when you step on the lever to engage. Check your mail, I can send you a picture and parts list for the 1700 diff lock.

diff lock is the L shape bar behind your right heel .I have a 1700 but don't have any pictures of the inter working of one. you would need a service manual

I'm not familar with the small Ford tractors but,if it has a diff lock there should be some sort of foot controlled lever to activate it.Most likly on the right side next to your heel.

Little T bar you put your heel on on a 1720. 1700 is 2 generations older, would expect some foot bar there.
