I mounted the remote pictured above on my Ford 881 and am having trouble figuring out how the remote works. The handles are not on the remote in the picture. I had to fabricate the upper handle.

The remote is hooked up to a hydraulic top link.

The bottom handle alone pushed out the cylinder and moving both handles brought it back in. Is this correct? Do I have the remote hooked up correctly? Can this remote be adjusted for single-acting vs. double acting cylinders?
Is there a manual available for this remote valve?
Does anyone have a spare upper or lower handle for this remote or know of a source?

The remote has the the following id information.
FoMoCo
WoosterB-WDivision 6/18/63B

Thanks Allen

I have later model tractors, but I'd guess the hyd flow is identical. To get your remote to work the lift arms can't be all the way up. There is a pressure release valve that activates up there and since this is an "Open Center" system, you can't get any hydraulic pressure unless you lower them some....half way down is a good place to be.

Allen,

I have the same valve that came with only one handle. I was not able to find a replacement handle so made on from a straight piece of Oak stake, about 1 and 1/4 square. I put it on the bottom and use the longer handle on top. It works good so far. Ok, here is the scoop. Who ever used the valve before me used only a single valve out of the two. I wanted to use both but one lever would not power the actuator both ways. I looked into my super old IT shop service manual No. FO-20 and found my problem. Note that the newer IT Manual No. FO-26 did not have a the cross-sectonal break down picture. Ok the FO-20 manual, page 137 tells how to use the valve with two double action cylinders. Page 138, Figure FO-287 has the view and shows the allen head screw called the switch valve that can be adjusted in or out. (note they have a small drift pin that needs to be removed with needle nosed plyers) I backed my allen screw out 3 turns and things worked perfectly, both cylinders powered each way. My allen screw was screwed too far in! The allen head screw is kind of hidden so look close cause it is mounted low and at an angle. good luck

Thanks for all the help!

I didn't realize that this remote was in the FO-20 manual, and I already had it!

BTW, my Dad made a handle out of rebar and plate steel. Not pretty, but it works.

Allen:

Your valve is like one that I have on my 64 4000, 4 cylinder. It is an original 100 series Ford valve.

One of the handles for this valve is still supplied by CNH but it is expensive. About $80.00, if I remember correctly.

The other handle is no longer available.

I bought a similar design single spool valve in order to get the no longer available handle for mine.

The handles are cast iron and are easily broken, especially the outside #1 handle.

If memory serves, the #2 handle is available but the #1 is not. The #1 handle is the same as the single handle used on some versions of early 100 series single spool valves.

I believe both spools in your valve can be set up for either SA or DA but am not currently at home and am not sure.

While it's commonly done, you shouldn't use plumbing black iron or galvanized fittings for hydraulics. They are not made to the same standards and could rupture or leak. Often they don't, actually they mostly work fine. BUT....

This looks similar to the dual spool on my 660. There is a lift/ drop ort on each side of the block. 1 spool handle for each. On mine, one of the ports can be configured for SA.. IE lift only / fast drop. it is a screw inthe front with a lock nut that you loosent he nut, screw the stud out, then hit the lock nut again. In that fashion, the cyl will not retract except under gravity pressure.. IE.. you can use it as a wheel lift cyl on a lift implement or a loader lift cyl.. where there is weight when you exhaust the cyl to mkae it drop.. etc.

this forum sells tisco style spool handles.. but I've never checke dthem to see if they are similar enough to the old ford handles to work or be made to work.
