Hello all,

I am wanting to get an old front loader back on my tractor. It (the loader)has set outside for years and I have to replace all the hoses etc. It is an old Freeman loader w/ trip bucket. I know little to nothing about the hydraulic control. It is stamped H21-3 and includes a six digit number in a second location, but I assume that won't provide any help. At any rate, I knew some of your here woud be able to look at the photo and give me an idea of what I have. I assume it is an SA spool with one pressure port and one return port? The hoses appeared to be plumbed with a T, but I don't remember at all how they were hooked in. If this is an SA spool I will check out the cylinders and replumb. Advice appreciated.

From what i see, the port with the street 'ell' is the lift port, and the one plugged with the bolt is the drop port. The stem is probably screwed out for SA cyls, thus only one hose fromt he 'ell is needed to the 'T' to the 2 loader SA lift cyl's.

Those fittings may take the 9/16 fine thread ( non taper.. but can't tell from here.. My valve on my 660 has banjo fititns with fine thread ports on the hose side.. looks 'similar' to the fittings i have.. though can't be sure from the pic on the threading.. etc..

Thanks Larry,

If the DA functions correctly, I could look into DA cylinders and have downpressure on the bucket, that would be all right. Since it't a row crop, I know it's not ideal for loader work (I won't use it often), but does the front end on these hold up pretty well? Thanks for your input on the other post, I will likely replace the points and condensor after checking the coil spark and confirming good.

Standard old Ford valve. The stem protruding from the left side of the valve changes it from SA to DA. With the stem screwed in tight it'll be DA and open it'll be SA.

As to the T I'm assuming you mean the joint between the hoses from right and left side of the loader. That would be correct.
Sorry, it's been some time since I've been in this valve, so don't remember off hand which is the lift and which is the drop port.
