I am looking for the torque limiting clutch plate that bolts on the engine flywheel for my 63 4000 sos. Does anyone know where on can be found other than CNH? They want a lot for it. I have bought many parts from YT and they are very helpful but don't have this part or the rear drag links for my power steering 4000. If anyone has part #S for these pieces they may be able to find them. Also a tech question, I have the tractor split for engine rebuild. Although all speeds work in the sos trans, it will not park, but will roll like it is in neutral when in park with engine running. I adjusted the bands and there was no change in park operation. I did notice that when I torqued #1 band to the 5 ft #s the engine would lug down and stall at idle.I adjusted the bands per manuel instructions Any info would be a great help!!! THANKS Flat Top

3 cylinders were built 65 and after. The parts you have are not compatable with what Flat top needs.

an 8 speed in a '64? Are you sure? Does your tractor have a 4 cylinder engine or a 3. I'm guessing 3 if you replaced with an 8 spd. If so, that's a different animal than what's being talked about here.

I have parts from an SOS from a '64 - 4000 (i replaced the SOS with an 8 spd manual trans. When I scrapped the SOS it was because I'd lost several of the gears; but the torque limiting clutch I'm pretty sure was OK. The clutch disc I have and I think you're referring to is about 1/8" thick, conical in shape, and about 1 1/4" wide; about 9" OD. If this sounds right and you're interested let me know; it's light weight and mail would be relatively cheap I think. I'd take "a heck of a lot" less than $110 for it! I'm near Winnipeg Canada

2 3/4" is correct as shown in Figure 136. When I said I was within 1/8", I wasn't referring to the 2 1/4" mentioned, but adjusment on my cable.

Didn't have my manual handy and was going from memory. I am sure I am within 1/8", but just doesn't quite reach Park.

Hello Flat Top,

I changed the transmission filter on my SOS last fall and tried to measure the 2-1/4" ?? out for the bottom cable when putting my shifter back on. I didn't get it quite right and mine does the same thing. Even when it looks to be in Park, it doesn't quite get there and will roll. Gets far enough for my safety start switch, but won't actually Park the tractor. I need to take the time to make the adjustment because it can be quite hazardous if you think you're in Park and find your self still in R2. Be safe and good luck finding your parts.

Chris

don't think he's talking about the clutch plate itself. Think he's talking about the pressure plate. Am i correct Flat Top?

My email is open in modern view. Send me an email about the torque plate if you wish to talk turkey. I'm sure I have a used one that is in good shape.

Are you sure you used the manual specific to your transmission for band adjustment? The Ford manual for that transmission would be the supplement, SE-8175-S1

Something sounds fishy about your band adjustment. I.e. Band # 1 should be adjusted with the engine shut off. Bands 2 and 3 have to be adjusted and applying properly to facilitate Park. This is a spring action, so unless a valve is hanging (but that should take out some speed ratios too) it sounds like they simply aren't adjusted tight enough. Loose bands should knock some speed ratios for a loop too. Is your shifter maybe not adjusted properly and not pulling the tranny all the way into Park?
