Now, when you finish with all that nice paint, you surely want a new set of decals. The decals for that tractor say Ford, 4000, and diesel if so, if not they don't. The colors are black, blue and white ( I think on the white; one third color, maybe light gray, but pretty sure it's white)

You have to be sure and stipulate that the decals are that color and they are for a pre'65 4000. Otherwise you will get the white/silver/red decals made for the later model tractors.

I got mine from a place in central Louisiana; can't remember their name, but if you can't find any I can locate an old catalog of theirs and give you their phone #. They were $40 just for the hood decals and that was 5 years ago; but they are premium quality and have looked great for all that time...as did my paint job that I did with TISCO paint; but I keep my tractors shedded.

You are correct on the 4000. The 2000 didn't have as much Light Gray as that to distinguish the two models at a distance (up close they had cowl decals to read). Also the 4000 had a chrome cap on the upper air intake on front of the cowl.

All the wheels are also light gray. Lotta people take that gray paint for white, but it's not.

The correct paint for the blue part is the old Ford blue which looks blue. In '65 they added some yellow or green to it and it came out looking more like the color of the Atlantic Ocean...geen hue, and after NH took over, the blue kinda has a purple hue.

If you buy a seat, don't go to ASC for one, and get a blue one (to match your new paint job) cause it is not even close and looks horrible....guess how I know. Grin. Get a black one.

If you're sure it's a '64 (4 cyl) the gray is correct. The power train is blue, as is the main body of the shifter. The shifter caps and all sheet metal and wheels are gray. Rear rims are aluminum colored.
