Picked up a 2-spool open center valve the other day because, as they say, "the price was right." I have had the intention of adding a top-n-tilt at some point so I now have the valve to accomplish this. The hydraulic accessory plate under the seat has a plug on top so I am wondering if it is my tap for the valve. The manual shows the plate but doesn't say anything about auxiliary hydraulic feeds. I remember there was some discussion on this board a while back but have not found the thread(s) yet. Any pointers appreciated.

I will add a pic shortly.

Thanks for the information. Now I see how the system works. I was wondering how the remotes figured into the 3pt lift pressure supply.

The valve I have just needs a conversion plug to get power beyond out of it. And with the 3 pt hitch then being fed by the power beyond gives it priority so that is somewhat back to normal operation.
I reckon I will go that way and just add a return filter to take care of anything a remote cylinder might decide to cough up.

The only time that the 3 pt will not lift is when you are actively using the remote valve. Most of the time, that is not a big deal, I guess with the exception being a hydraulic feed that requires the valve open all the time, but it has never been an issue for me yet. What type of valve do you have? I have a PB port I bought for a valve I thought I had, but really don't. I'd pass it along to you if it is the same. Shoot me an E-mail. Doesn't the filter on the tractor hydraulic system filter the return from the system? I've never seen a filter on a rear remote. In fact, the Ford offered remotes are bolted right to the top of the rear end and there is no way to add a filter to it.

Does adding the plate affect the 3pt lift operation?
The valve I now have is a 3 position, 4-way, open center with no power beyond, just an inlet, return, and 4 working ports. If I add the plate do I connect my new valve to the power beyond or the pressure port on the plate? If to the power beyond port will the remote(s) then have priority over the 3pt lift?
The valve has its own relief set at 2k psi.

I reckon I need to know how the hydraulic flow works for the 3pt lift and the service manual really doesn't go into any detail. The devil is in the details and I cannot afford to hook something up wrong and blow the pump, a cylinder, the valve, or myself up.

Since this tractor has a hydraulic sickle bar on it I could always just tap into that system and run the remotes off of the front mount pump. Would make for a bit more hose being used but that will keep the 3pt lift independent and a closed system. The front pump has filtration that the tractor hydraulics do not.

In general, if you use a PB valve correctly, the 3 pt hitch works normally. That is why you need PB. If you use the valve you have with the outlet of the valve tied to the return port and plug the PB port in the plate, your 3 pt is now dead. Likewise, if you use the return from your valve to the PB port on the plate and plug the return port in the plate, strange things will happen, 3 pt service could be interupted and the valve will not be happy, likely will not operate correctly under load, etc. The correct plumbing on that plate is pressure port on the plate to the inlet of the valve, outlet of the valve to the return port on the plate and the power beyond port on the valve to the power beyond port on the plate. The outlet side of your valve is not intended to have "back" pressure on it, it's meant to dump to a sump. I recently installed the kit from this site on my 4600 using the plate under the seat and a PB valve. Although I haven't put it to a lot of use yet, it is a clean install and I like it. The key is that you really need a PB valve because it is installed before the 3 point hitch and that needs "full" hydraulic pressure to operate. I tried everything like you are right now and ended up biting the bullet and buying a PB valve. Good luck and post back if you can find a solution that's cheaper or easier as I'd love to know it.

Just checked this site for parts (should have done this earlier) and it looks like this might be the ticket since I already have the valve:

Valve Adapter Kit - Hydraulic Valve Adapter kit. Can replace OEM adapter plate 9613790. Adapter plate in HV5902 kit features three ports: (1) pressure port, (1) power-beyond port and (1) return port. All ports 3\4" - 16 ORB. Kit contains adapter plate, o-rings, mounting bolts, plugs, and in For 2000, 230, 231, 233, 234, 2600, 3000, 333, 334, 335, 340, 3600, 4000, 420, 445, 4600, 5000, 500, 515, 530, 532, 535, 545, 5600, 600, 6600, 700, 800, 900. (Part No: HV5902)

Anybody else running one of these? It has a built-in return which was one of my concerns.

That plate should work, assuming the valve you have has a power beyond port. I have the 4902 plate and plumbed a return line to the sump fill on the rear of the tractor. All things equal, I'd go with the 5902 for a few more dollars to make the plumbing a little neater. Don't underestimate that you need 5 hydraulic hoses (pressure, return, power beyond and the 2 hoses to the implement) plus all of the fittings to convert those hose fittings to what you have for connections and quick disconnects. All those add up quickly. It does make for a real nice installation that you can mount conveniently on the fender, or wherever you want. The key to it all is that you need a Power Beyond valve. Good Luck!
