On my 1956 850-where the three point hitch is right behind the seat, there are two places to put the bar. Mine is on lower lever. Whats the difference (advantage) on one vs the other? ~signed a 850 gem owner....AF1

Upper hole is for light draft.. like cultivators.. lower hole sis for heavy draft.. like disc/plows.. chisle points.. subsoilers.. etc.

Are you talking about the toplink rocker? If so, you should always use the lower hole unless you're plowing the soil. The upper hole is designed so that there is more leverage on the draft mechanism (that rod with the big coil spring). You can apply too much pessure to that system and cause damage inside the lift.

There are some optional rockers that have 3 holes instead of just two. The top hole on the triple rockers can really cause some damage if not used with caution.

For most 3 point implements, the bottom hole works great and minimizes the possibility of sending unnecessary shock into the lift system. I'm specifically thinking of activities such as pushing snow in reverse with a back blade. You wouldn't want your topling attached to one of the upper holes when that blade hits the snow bank.

If I understand the question correctly The lower hole is for heavy draft work such as plowing. The upper one is for light draft work.
