What has been everyones experience with them. Looking at an IH 5088, 6215 hrs, new interior, $14500, but see a Ford 8240 for sale, 4810 hrs., for $14000. Want mainly for spraying and haying, light tillage, possibly some heavy tillage in a tight, pilling 2 to 4 point subsoiler with planters and 7 Point Chisel plow. Pull a spreader that is heavy on the drawbar. We have a Massey 399, any comparison? I would like to know if it is any good, or if you can reccomend a better cab tractor that I could reasonably find for under $15000. Thanks.

No one have an opinion. I would really like a comment. I have always wanted a --40 series tractor, but all the same do not need and can not afford a piece of junk. So, any comments negitave or positive about these Fords. The tractors I am looking at appear in average condition, needs some refurbishing, no big deal for me. Should I attempt to make a deal on one, or should I keep looking. Also, any comments on a Ford 9700 Rops. Fair conditon, I've ran it as a cousin owns it. Again needs work, but not bad. We've always been Massey men, and I have always ran Perkins deisels, but a lot of Fords are starting to appear to be good deals (however, anything that isn't John Deere is a good deal around here). I know, I'm rambling. Just want to hear about these tractors and your experiences.
