I have disassembled the AICO remote hydraulic valve that was on my 5000 when I bought it. It constantly leaked fluid and when I connected a 12' disc with hydraulic lift wheels to it it leaked even worse. I pulled it off this morning and I found that someone had tightened the pipe fittings into the top spool too tight and they split the cast iron housing in the area of the threads on both ports.
On the lower spool I removed the pipe plug that was screwed into the port on the side of the valve towards the middle of the tractor. At the bottom of that port there is a threaded hole that goes straight into the area of the spring on the spool. There is another hole that comes into the left side of this port (from the front of the tractor). Since my lower spool was functioning properly in the SA mode I am led to believe that in order to convert this spool to DA I need to screw a small Allen headed plug into that hole that goes into the area of the spring.
Do you recall if your AICO valve had a plug in that hole in the port?
I have opened my e-mail if you prefer to reply privately.

I don"t recall right now. Maybe you can send me a couple of pictures at richardphillips@verizon.net.

There is an exact AICO valve for sale on ebay right now, ebay item # 160202973020. It ends in 3 days and is up to $222.00 already.

You can also have it welded. My valve body isn"t cracked, but the rear spring plate with 4 bolts holding it on was cracked/repaired at some point. It"s cast iron also, and doesn"t leak at all.
