Anyone know the going rate for a non-running hundred series tractor. I discovered a likely restoration or parts candidate that has been parked for several years. It looks as if the tires are down and the rear rims have severe rust. From what I could tell the sheet metal was clean. It looked like lights, emblems were missing. I'd like to make a fair offer for it if the owner wants to part with it. Sorry that's all the info. I can give without getting permission to look at it.

Remember.. it's ring gear may be shelled out, have leaky seals all around, no breaks, chipped teeth in the tranny, and spun bearings on a ruined crank with holes in the piston and a cracked head, bad lift pump and non working lift cyl parts.. and leaky hyd plumbing thru the tranny casting... when buying a non runner.. you are only sure you are getting the stamped metal and the bare castings... just what ya see.. everything else is a mystery..

A regular Mr. Sunshine you are!

The problem I've had is that everyone thinks they have a show room perfect tractor that was parked in a climate controlled underground bunker filled with Nitrogen and not some clapped out rusted up hunk that was drug over to the weeds after blowing 3 rods out the side of the block!

A lot depends on where you are and the price of scrap iron in your area. Scrap iron prices have drove up the valve of old tractors just because of weight. I pay $200-500 for one like that in my area but it can be more at times

500-700 for a non runner. You have no idea of the internals.. or the trans.. or the hyds.. I fit had particular minty parts on it.. or items i needed, and it lookedlike it could run.. or ran when parked.. perhaps as high as 1000$ if it had good oil and all fluids were good, and had compression.. etc..

With yours with rotten tires and needing rims.. I'd be onthe low side.. say 600$ maybee..

Remember.. it's ring gear may be shelled out, have leaky seals all around, no breaks, chipped teeth in the tranny, and spun bearings on a ruined crank with holes in the piston and a cracked head, bad lift pump and non working lift cyl parts.. and leaky hyd plumbing thru the tranny casting... when buying a non runner.. you are only sure you are getting the stamped metal and the bare castings... just what ya see.. everything else is a mystery..

I was thinkin' about $500. Thanks for pointing out that the innards may well be scrambled! Could be quite a checklist to go through before an offer. Most sellers don't like you tinkerin' an takin' stuff off for inspection so it could be a hard call on that level.

Some don't mind. I bought an 8N years ago that engine was siezed when I approached him. I made an offer based on the tractor running. Then I spent a weekend getting it running in his yard and drove it home. I agree, some don't even want you to knock on their door and ask about a tractor that has been sitting for years.
