800 live power clutch stuck - Quick fix?????????

I have just finished putting an 800 back together (engine) and took it out today to run a manure spreader and found that the live power clutch would not disengage. The engine was torn down and sat for several years

Am thinking that I could hook it up to a Dino and with the clutch pedal down that when the torque was turned up that it would break it loose.

Has anyone ever done this or do you have another fix for this without tearing it down?????

Thanks

Dog down the clutch peddle all the way and spin the PTO shaft with a big pipe wrench. That may get it free. Rock it back and forth.

ON re-reading your note: when you wrote "dino", I didn't know what you were talking about. But it dawned on me, were you talking about a PTO dynometer? If you have access to one, it may very well apply enough force to pop it free. Have the operator really jump on it hard and fast and not apply it slow.

Guess that I should have added more info. It is a 5 speed transmission w/live power and yes the adjustment is correct with the peddle close to being straight up.

Thanks

With the two-stage clutch, the clutch pedal needs to be about 11 inches above the footrest. If it doesn't look like it's WAY too high, it's not adjusted right.

As Soundguy stated, first make sure you have the peddle and linkage hooked up and adjusted correctly. It should be about standing straight up, well not quite, but thats a close approximation.

Dog down the clutch all the way and see if it is still stuck after a few days. If it is, you will have some issues. On a 4 speed, you can just dog down and run, when it pops free your good. But with the live pto being the second stage and the 1st stage being good, you dogging down the clutch will result in no forward motion!

I am wondering if you can use a mower, spin it up to full rpm, then shut off the engine with the clutch down? The rotational torque from the mower may be enough against the compression of the engine to pop the clutch free (??). maybe?

So you have an 860 then right?

Did you hook up the clutch pedal/rod clevis to the wrong hole in the clutch pedal.. if you do.. you can only clutch the drivetrain.. etc.

if the 2nd stage is really stuck.. try blocking the clutch down for a couple days, and then engaging the pto, and hooking up a pto load like a mower... tap the starter a few times and see if she breaks loose...
