I am going to install new disc brakes in my 4500 loader/backhoe because the adjuster is threaded all the way to the end of the thread. I removed the brake disc pads from the axle that was the worst for braking. After removing the disc's, they didn't look that worn. The thickness of the brake disc is .180 thousandths. Does anyone know the thickness of a new brake disc. I would hate to spend the money on new one's (have to order them) and find out that I will not gain anything. I could take the lock nut off the adjuster rod or add a few threads to the rod. If anyone knows the thickness please post it. Thank You

when changing brake rod seals, I left off the jam nuts and I have good brakes, for now.

Ronald,
The three rotating brake discs on each side have (had) a thin bronze facing on each side. I judge whether discs need to be replaced by the amount of wear on the facings. A swag is 3/32 inch origninal thickness of the facing. If it's worn past the grooves or if the bronze has worn off completely, it's time for new ones.
