As many of you know, I've been looking for a ford trike for a while.

Fellow list member AWHTX made this stout looking unit available, plus an added bonus... a 711 1-arm trip style loader he had previously disassembled.

It was an offer I couldn't refuse. Made a 2300mile round trip haul to texas to grab it.

Is that a 950/951 or 960/ 961 or 700 series ? I see the 5 spd shifter. The drag link appears to be bent compared to my 960 NFE, or is that normal for the single front wheel ? At any rate you'll find it is a real handy tractor for use and a good collectable as well.

951, used to be LPG, converted to gas some time in the last 50 ys.

Used to have power steering, but now steering arm has been welded past the old pow steer valve/ram setup...

Cool project! I just saw 2 960 tractors today in PA though they both were 2 wheels in the front. Like that single wheel version! Enjoy!

Saw one almost like it on Craig's list Houston not long ago, thought it might be the same.

Finally got rain in my other place in Utopia,Tx, 1". Haven't had rain there since the last of Aug.

I am happy to hear of your new find.
Perhaps you can answer my question. What is the purpose of the trike?
I could never understand what they are made for.
They are an interesting tractor though.
Keep the Forum up to date with pictures ETC.
Enjoy!
Brian

God bless you. I'm not sure that my better half would ever think that my justification to drive 2300 miles to pick up a tractor would make sense at the cost of fuel today. It is a cool looking rig though. And you know what they say, the guy with the most toys wins!

We sure do have a beautiful country. Last Summer I did a road trip from MA to WI along Route 90 mostly and I had no idea that the world was so flat and beautiful. Me, my bride, 4,6 & 8 year old boys stuck in the truck for 22 hours of driving (over 2 days) and we had the time of our lives! Can't wait to do it again.

Yep.

Initially I thought that 19hr straight drive each way was gonna be a bit harder.. but was actually relieved to see that it wasn't much worse than a double shift at work plus some farm chores.

You finally got your trike! Do you have the rest of the sheet metal? Looks like a fun project anyway. I got a sad day coming this weekend, will fill you in later. Hopefully I will have a photo to share. If I can figure out how to post it. Enjoy!

Tractor is just as pictured.. but i wasn't going to pass up this opportunity. I've bought plenty of tractors sans sheet metal before.. that makes it that much more fun when you locate it!. my 49 allis G was that way... no sheetmetal.. not even fenders... ( no hood or rear hood cowl.. etc.. battery box.. etc. )

I plan to officially UNLOAD it from the trailer today ;) I had to work last night and didn't have time to remove all the tie downs and fire up the 660 to remove the loader parts so i could back the tractor down.

Shound be able to get to all that tonight.

Plus got to put a new trailer wire plug on the end of my trailer. Going thru temple the trailer plug pulle dout of the truck connector.. by the time i stopped, the plug had become flat on one side!! ( lamps and brakes still worked when plugged in and held in with lots of electrical tape... made it the other 1150 miles home that way! )

Thanks again.

"Next time" I'll actually get to meet you hopefully.
