Does anyone know the weight of the different sections of the pie wheel weights?
I have 2 different sets. Both on my (2) 4wd 841. One 841 has 14.9 28 tires and the other 841 has 16.9 26 tires. The weights on the 16.9 26 tires stick out about 3" more than the other one. That one is marked W8 or upside down could be 8M.
Any clue as to the lbs? I know that I can take one weight off each and weigh it but I thought maybe someone might know.

Looks to me that you have a large set of #45 agricultural on the 28"---on the 24" it looks like the small 30# industrial weights---the difference in the industrial and agricultral

1 the edges on the industrial are sharper

2 the industrial are deeper because they have to fit in the smaller 24" rim

My mistake. Maybe it's because it's dark in the barn or because I don't see too good any more but I double checked at they are 24 not 26. Sorry for the mix up.

Since I don't know how to post the photos here I posted them in the Parts & Pieces section. It makes sence because the one 841 has a heavy ford loader on it and that's the one with the heavier sections. The other 841 has a lighter wagner loader on it plus it has a small davis backhoe on it.

I just looked at your pictures.
My guess is that they are both the heavy sets.
The heavy set uses 8 lug nuts to bolt the star wheel on and the light set only 4.
If one set of weights sticks out further I'd guess it is because the tires/wheels are wider.
If you are looking to make both sets flush I'll trade you your heavy set for a light set:)
I agree with Dean. Ford put 24" wheels and tires on some industrial models but not 26"

If memory serves me right,(worked at Ford Shop 1957-1964) there was actually three sets of pie weights. The light set (800lbs) the heavy set (1200lbs) and a heavy set (approx 1100lbs)for the power adjusted wheels. This set stuck out beyond the segment weight mounting bolts about 2 or 3 inches. Haven't seen any of these for a long time but do remember installing them new.

Hi Kirk;

Here is a chart from the Owner's Manual for the 600 and 800. I don't know if they changed the weights for the 801's, but this should give you and idea. Also as Dean says there are a few different styles. Hope this helps.

Kirk:

Several version of the pie weights were made so a picture will be necessary to acccurately answer.

That said: The most common "heavy" weights weigh about 45 lb./segment, while the so-called "light" weights weigh about 30 lb./segment.

The heavy set totals nearly 1200 lbs. with star wheel and bolts. These will not fit on 24" rims or on 28" Ford power adjust rims without adjusting the rims in so that the segments clear the adjuster rails.

The light set will work on Ford power adjust rims.

There are other less common designs as well as some for use with 24" rims.

I have not heard of 26" rims used on vintage Ford tractors.
