Well, yesterday I got the engine broke free on my ford 981D and put the engine back to gether. When I hit the starter button it turned over like it should, but wouldn't fire. I think the fuel punp is bad but i'm not sure.
Any help would be very greatful.

The fuel lines are good and it has about 3 gallons of fresh fuel in the tank (All I could afored, $4.15 a gallon for diesel here in SWMN).

No.. I mean.. to crack the hard lines and see if you have fuel bubbling out when cranking..

The RoosaMaster injection pump used on the early Ford diesels is a totally self contained unit. If you are sure that you have good fuel flow to the pump and it won't start then the problem is most likey in the pump. It is possible to install the pump 180* out of time. You have to check the slot in the pump drive shaft that is in the engine block. The service manual will give the details on lining everything up.
