I have a 48 8N that runs great for 2hrs or better , but if I shut it down for 15 min. or so and restart it will only run for about 2min. and stall out. It will not restart for an hour or so and then it will stay running.Anyone ever run into this? It has new points, coil, wires, etc . Thankyou

You might have a clogged gas tank vent. What might be happening is when its running the fan keeps the tank just cool enough to keep the pressure down so it will run but when shut off the engine heats goes up and causes to much pressure in the fuel line and then you get a no go. Take the gas cap off and see if that help. Could also be a coil going bad but most of the time if thats it, it will only run and hour and then die and not start till its cold again

Hobby farm , thank you for your reply . The only vents for the tank are in the cap. Is that correct? Bob

The name is OLD my web site is hobby farm. LOL. The vent is in the top of the tank not the cap. Dirt dubbers love to clog them up and that causes all sorts of funny problem with the way and engine will run. I also agree with what Sound says to check.

The tank came with a vent.. but over the years they can get plugged.

Next time she dies, pull a plug wire and check for spark.. ( if spark is weak.. try jumpering your ignition switch and trying again.. ) if she has spark, pull the carb bowl drain and let it drain into a glass jar.. look for a good flow..

post back.

unless you can squish down like an ant.. you won't be able to see the tank vent.. it lives under the tractor hood in a non serviceable area, unless you remove the tank from the hood.
